How much is the 80DD deduction?
₹75,000 for a dependant with a disability of 40% or more, and ₹1,25,000 for severe disability of 80% or more.
Who counts as a dependant?
Your spouse, children, parents, brothers or sisters who depend on you for support.
Do I need to spend a set amount?
No. The deduction is fixed, but you must have spent money on their medical treatment, training, rehabilitation, or paid into an eligible insurance scheme for them.
Can I claim 80DD and my dependant claim 80U?
No. If the dependant claims 80U for the disability, you can't claim 80DD.
Is 80DD available under the new regime?
No. It's only available under the old regime.
