Privacy policy
In short: our calculators run on your device. When you contact us, we keep your name, mobile number, email and the documents you share, and use them only to help you with your taxes. We never sell your data.

Who we are
FileITR.in is run by [company legal name], [registered address]. In this policy, "we" means FileITR.in. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect, and why

How we receive it
- The "Chat with an expert" form: when you send it, your contact details, request and consent are saved in our enquiry database, and WhatsApp opens with your message.
- WhatsApp, email and phone: anything you send us there, including documents. WhatsApp is run by Meta, under its own terms and privacy policy.
How we contact you
We contact you about your request on WhatsApp, by phone, by SMS or by email, as you agreed when you sent it. We send tax deadline reminders and offers only if you ticked the box for them. To stop them, reply STOP on WhatsApp or SMS, or email [email protected].
Where it's stored
- Enquiries from the form are stored in a database run by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. It's encrypted at rest, and may be held on servers outside India, in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Documents are stored [where documents are stored], and only the people working on your return can open them.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with: the experts who handle your request; service providers that help us run the site and talk to you, such as Cloudflare (hosting and our database), Google (email and analytics) and Meta (WhatsApp), each under their own terms; the Income Tax Department, through its e-filing portal, when we file your return; and authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to a return being filed: [period] after our last contact, then deleted.
- Documents and records of returns we file: as long as needed to answer questions or notices about that return and to meet legal record-keeping rules, [period], then deleted.
- Your consent record: as long as we hold your data, so we can show what you agreed to.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw your consent at any time, and nominate someone to exercise your rights. Email [email protected]. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything done before, and we may need to keep some records the law requires.
Grievance officer
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, contact our grievance officer, [name], at [email]. We'll respond within the time the law requires. You can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (run by Google) to see which pages are visited. It sets cookies named _ga and doesn't receive the numbers you type into calculators, or your name, number or email. You can turn it off at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; we'll remember your choice on that device.
Storage on your device
The site stores a few things in your browser: whether you closed the deadline notice, your analytics choice, a salary you carry from the home page to a calculator (for that visit only), and saved copies of pages so calculators work offline. None of these is sent to us.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, enquiries are encrypted in our database, and calculators don't send your numbers anywhere. How we keep your information safe.
Children
FileITR.in is meant for adults. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us.
Changes
We'll update this page if anything changes, and change the date at the top. If a change affects what you agreed to, we'll ask you again.
